Kmart Clearance: Summer & Pool Toys...

about the good deals she got at Kmart recently.

She got $248 dollars in summer fun for $34.21!!

I was in my Kmart last week and didn't notice summer toys on clearance, have to admit I wasn't really looking (but should have been with the "new to us" pool that we're getting-more about that soon), but they did have several carts out front as kind of a sidewalk sale- most of it still overpriced in my book. When I got in the store I found better deals... tank tops with scarves for $2, a summer outfit for my little guy $3, and they had a few toys marked way down they were offering 50% off of the discounted price on.

Like Lissa... I find that you have to scan everything that looks like it might be discounted at Kmart. Often times they are less than they are marked! Thanks Lissa for reminding us to be alert for seasonal deals!

I'll definately be back looking for the summer items :)

Christmas clearance...

I've found most stores are discounting 50-75% on most Christmas items yet, but there's something you might want to look for if you browse the Christmas clearance items.

There are several sets that were put out this season with a free subscription to Better Homes and Gardens with purchase.
With the clearance of Christmas items, these are a great buy!

I found a cute Christmas tin with a cookie mix inside that had a small spatula and 2 cookie cutters with it. There was a picture of a Better Homes and Gardens magazine on the packaging that said free subscription with purchase. I found this at CVS for 75% off, which made it $2.50. The rebate inside gives me $6 back if I choose not to get the subscription, which is what I plan to do. $3.50 profit for my find.

I saw another of the same kit today at Meijer among the Christmas cookies that were left. They still wanted $6 for it yet.
A friend of mine said she did better yet. She found a couple of different sets at Walmart that offered the free subscription as well. They were different sets with coffee in them, one for $1.25 and the other for $2.50.

Target Christmas 90% off...

I ventured into my local Target
and found a few good Christmas buys at 90% off,

Most likely all of the Target stores have discounted to this and if you're wanting in on the fun, best get there quickly!

I found several really nice gift bags for $.02-$.30. Some Mini-boxes, like the kind you get at a Chinese restaurant for carry-out, only they were plaid red and green... not too Christmas like to be used any other time of the year for $.50 for a pack of 6.

They had several boxes of Choxie (Target brand) Chocolates from $.50+ . If you've never tried them, they are good chocolates.

There were several stockings and lots of tree skirts, a few boxes of Christmas lights and some Christmas bulbs left. Lots of gift bags, and a few boxes and Christmas cards, including some that hold pictures.
The specialty Christmas decorations in the card and candle area of the shop were being marked down to 75% off. Most of it still too pricey for me there.

I also found a some Rubbermaid 18 gal. containers marked $5.99, down from $8.99. Thet weren't red and green, just on sale.

Halloween Clearance.... alternative ideas

We don't do "Halloween" so much in my household, but we did allow our little one to dress up as something "good" for his school. I don't decorate with ghosts and witches, but usually fall decorations. Even so, I still manage to find some things in the Halloween clearance for other things.

Be on the lookout for clearanced Halloween items. Everything from costumes and decorations, to candy and treats are being discounted.

I found at my local Kroger and Kmart, all of their Halloween merchandise was 50% off yesterday, while a friend of mine found Walgreens had theirs at 75% off.
"Halloween" things you can find on clearance with other uses:

• Princess costumes are great gifts for little girls that like to play dress up and there's no better time to find them for next to nothing.
• Super hero costumes costumes are great for boys as well
• You can often find fall decorations mixed in with the Halloween ones. It depends on your tastes, but sometimes they have tablecloths, pumpkins, baskets and such.
• Noisemakers... my girlfriend found some of these this year & thought they may make good Christmas gifts for some of the kids. They were meant to go along with costumes, but could be used just for make believe.
• Candy... that's a given I know, but I often find that the outer wrappers are "Halloween" so they discount it, but the inner wrappers are normal so could be used for other things such as making little gift/goody bags for Christmas. Let your child help you and let them take some to their friends.
