Kmart Doubles 11/30-12/6

My Kmart is doubling coupons again, is yours?

Check here at Kmart.com
Pull up your local ad to see. Mine has details right on the front page.

Most Kmart stores are honoring the sale this time. Use any coupons valued at up to $2 and they will double the value of the coupon, making a $1 coupon worth $2, and a $2 coupon worth $4, etc. There are lots of great deals to be had.

Some have noted that if the item is less than the coupon, the coupon will not double. For example.. the item is $3.98 and you have a $2 coupon, the coupon may not double to $4 or the coupon may not take the $3.98 off, only $2.
Some have noted this as a problem, others have not had the problem... watch at the registers.

Don't be bashful about saying you don't want an item because the coupon didn't take the amount off that you expected! I have done it several times and it's not usually too difficult for the cashier to void an item and set it aside. People change their minds all the time at the register for various reasons.

Here are a couple of websites I recomLinkmend that have some of the deals listed for you.
They've done all the work for us!

Mom's Cranberry Salad...

Growing up I never liked anything with cranberries... not that I remember. Somehow I've acquired a taste for them in some things.... I like dried ones in salads, like chicken salad. I also like them on top of salads, especially with blue cheese dressing and some slivered almonds.

Here's a recipe I grew up on.... not that I ate it growing up, no way! But now... love it! It's sweet, with a bit of punch from the oranges and cranberries and has a nice crunch from the apples and nuts. Yum...

My mom's Cranberry Salad Recipe (that she got from her mom)

1 Family size box of Jello (strawberry or raspberry)
-or 2 small boxes work too

2 diced apples

1 container frozen Indian Train Cranberries and Oranges
(found in the freezer section)

1 cup of Walnuts, chopped

Prepared Jello according to directions using 1 cup less water than directions ask for. Add other ingredients. Refrigerate until set.

I use sugar-free Jello to keep the calories down.

It's a great splash of color on your plate at Thanksgiving & tastes great with turkey.

UPDATE:

Indian Trail Cranberry Orange is no longer available in stores...
You can find a recipe to substitute for it here.

CVS Update!!

In the CVS ad this week the Complete Multipurpose Solution was listed as
$8.99, get $8.99 ECB (limit 1)

Update.... the Limit is 5!!

The tag below the product at one of my CVS stores confirms this.

I have purchased 4 so far and received the ECB's for all of them and my receipt does not yet say limit reached.

This is a great buy for me since Hubby and I each use it!
Don't forget there are coupons for this!

Rite Aid Deals...

I don't have a Rite Aid in my area and don't get the circulars,
but...

I know a few of you that are checking here have access to a Rite Aid so I've decided to link to a good blog to help you find the best deals for the week.

Here is a blog I have noticed called The Freebie Blogger with what looks like the best of the Rite Aid deals for the week. Some weeks they seem to have a lot, other weeks very little... this looks like a slow week.

If you have a blog that lists these deals, please leave a comment with a link and I will consider linking to you for those deals.

Meijer ... quick note on Turkey deal

If you need a turkey and don't have one yet....
Run, don't walk, to Meijer!

I did my Meijer shopping later in the week than usual and found a sign above the turkeys that said save $8 off a 11-16lb turkey, save $14 off a 16+lb turkey with an addtional $20 purchase.... we knew that already.

Here's the kicker... the sign also said Save an addtional $6 off at the register with the purchase of a turkey. I hadn't seen this anywhere else and it wasn't in their ad, but decided to try it.

I found a Meijer brand turkey that was 17lbs marked $26.xx. At the end of my total it took off the $14 and also the $6 .... I got a 17lb turkey for $6.xx !!!!

Place to get Kroger Deals...

I've admitted before that I often have trouble getting the Kroger deals posted in what I feel like is an adequate time frame.

I only post the deals I feel that are really worthy of pointing out so you don't have to sort through all the caous on the web, but if I'm not timely enough for you, there's somewhere you can look through the deals yourself for free.

The site is called Couponmom.com and you can find it here.

The Couponmom.com is a free site that puts the deals together for you. Kroger is a harder store to just surf the web for deals on because their sales are regional and you really have to look around to find someone posting the deals for your area.

You sign up for free, put in your zip code and click the tab to the left that says "Grocery Deals by State". You will have to sort through and find the best deals yourself.

I have not yet used the site myself, but because it can be hard to find the regional deals at Kroger I thought it might be a good resource.

It doesn't look like it lists catalina deals, but deals that use newspaper coupons seem to be there.

Peppermint Mocha

It's getting cold here
& I'm ready for some yummy and warm treats & eats.

Here's something that I've grown to love that I learned from a dear friend I used to work with.
Thanks K! Love it!!- Still have your syrup by the way... want it back??

I love hot beverages in the winter, everything from coffee (which you've heard me talk about already this season-with peppermint mocha creamer non the less), to teas and hot cocoa. They have a way of warming you from the inside out and warm your hands at the same time.

This is a simple addition to your standard hot chocolate mix that makes it taste coffee shop worthy... Really!

Simply
Make a cup of your favorite hot chocolate mix and add a small amount of peppermint syrup- the same kind you get for your coffee that I talked about it here recently. Stir & Enjoy!

I sometimes add a little extra water to the mix since the syrup is sweet too... makes a bigger cup that way too!

You could try other flavors too!
Peppermint makes me think Christmas.... Helps me get in the mood for it!

If you have a simple heart warming recipe you'd like to share with me just leave a comment or a link to your blog post.

If you leave a link to your blog I'll then make a post with a link to your blog... hopefully I'll have a chance to try it and leave my review of it too.

Walgreens Double Dipping this Friday and Saturday

Here are the possible overlaps for the EasySaver Catalog coupons and rebates that happen this Friday and Saturday.
Unfortunately, the coupons are now being printed each month with the same bars codes, so you can not use one from Nov. and one from Dec. for the same product like we've been able to do for the last several months. There are two good deals I found that are still worth checking out.

I was able to get my hands on a December EasySaver today at one of my local Walgreens. They had already put out the catalog, but the coupon I tried to use today beeped and my cashier wouldn't push it through today. I figure I will wait to see if there's a $/$$ coupon this weekend before I try it again anyway.

Out of Creamer!!!! Yikes...

I'm a coffee drinker... no thanks to Starbucks!

Actually, Starbucks wasn't even around (at least not in my area) when I developed a taste for coffee, so I guess I can't blame them for my love of it.

It all started on my Honeymoon of all places. Hubby and were young and not refined in our tastes, but found that they served coffee with dessert at all of the dinners on the cruise. We found ourselves trying it and loving it. I remember the coffee on the cruise bringing out the richness in the elegant desserts, and the coffee itself was a wonderful brew.

Since that wonderful week, I have had a love of coffee. Starbucks didn't create the love, but has definately changed the way I look at it.

I now enjoy coffee most every morning, and because I don't eat decadant desserts for breakfast, I crave a sweet creamer in mine most times. I can still drink black, but long for the richness that the creamers bring out, Hubby would just say I'm spoiled or finicky... I say give me a great dessert and then I'd rather the coffee be black!

I like the prepackaged liquid creamers in the grocery store... Peppermint Mocha and Cinnamon Creme are probably my favorites and I stock up on them this time of year when they are on sale and there are lots of coupons for them. They do freeze quite well!

If you haven't tried those two flavors, do.... I never thought I'd like cinnamon in my coffee and found out by mistake you could say that I like it. A friend asked if I wanted creamer in my coffee and of course I said sure... then when it was so wonderful I had to ask her what kind it was I was shocked!

I do on occasion, yikes do I have to say it?, run out of creamer! I've spoiled myself enough by always having creamers available that I've found a way to make my coffee taster creamer-fied, if there ever was such a word.

Here's how... I pour my normal cup of coffee and add lowfat milk to desired creaminess. Pull out the sugar-free flavored syrup that I use for my occasional at home soda-fountain style drinks & here goes, now I'll admit I purchased myself an espresso machine with money I got a few Christmases ago and I use syrups mainly for lattes and iced coffees.

By the way... a little goes a long way, so the syrups seem to last forever!

These syrups can be found in the coffee sections of most grocery stores and are great when you need a little extra flavor in your beverages. I have found that the best place to get them in my area is TJ Max. They often have a big 25 oz bottle of DaVinci Gourmet for $5.99, when the much smaller bottle was $4.79 in my local grocery. TJ Max carries other brands as well, but find DaVinci to be a better quality syrup. One of the other brands I tried I had to use twice the syrup to taste the flavor and then it was too sweet.

If you like the occasional flavored fountain drink,
pick a flavor that you think you would like in both your coffee
and your sodas and you've got the best deal for your buck.

Friends love when I pull out the flavored syrups to go in their sodas,
it's a special treat like when you go to the soda fountain.

The DaVinci website also has lots of free recipes on other ways to use their syrups. Things like Gourmet Whipped Cream, Caramel Mocha Mousse & Almond Joy Italian Soda sound good to me.
